ACTORS/DIRECTORS/PLAYWRIGHTS
Participate in our play reading sessions!
- Actors hone your cold reading skills through participation in our play reading group, network with fellow actors, and receive advance notice for audition calls.
- Stage directors hear new plays by some of the nation’s most promising new playwrights, expand your options for future casting needs and receive priority consideration for directing projects for future DAE productions.
- Playwrights take the opportunity to continue to develop your craft. Scripts that are selected for further consideration will have a reading session with members of our play reading group. Playwrights will be invited to sit in and receive feedback. If selected for further production, you will have the opportunity to continue to workshop your script during rehearsals with the cast and director.
So join other trained theater professionals to screen material in consideration for our future productions. We perform at various venues in the Washington, DC area throughout the year.
And when you become a FRIEND, you will receive priority consideration to participate in our play reading screenings for future productions. See our Support Us page.
Submit your acting and/or directing resume if you are interested in participating. Playwrights see our submission guidelines below before sending us your scripts
Doorway Arts Ensemble Theater Company (DAE) is seeking submissions for our 2010-2011 season, “The Playground Series”. We are looking to produce 3 staged readings of new plays of any genre, including plays which incorporate movement, dance, and music. We seek plays or creative works that weave riveting and compelling stories which unfold on or at the “playground”. Creative interpretation of “the playground” is welcome. Playwrights of all skill levels are encouraged to submit. A cash stipend award will be given to the winning playwrights. Selected plays will receive 5 developmental rehearsals with a director, dramaturg and professional actors prior to one or two public readings of the play which will be presented in venues located throughout the DC Metropolitan area.
